Modern Psychoanalytic Education
We are dedicated to improving and expanding education and research in modern psychoanalysis.
Modern psychoanalytic education in the United States is normally conducted in free-standing Institutes. Training in such Institutes is often years longer than that required for academic degrees. It is common for a matriculated candidate to spend 7-8 years, or longer in a training Institute.
This rigorous training in modern psychoanalysis usually consists of around 24 courses, weekly individual analysis, supervision, clinical experience, giving and attending case presentations, and presentation of a final case.
We encourage the exploration of ideas, research, writing and public education on modern psychoanalysis.
